Glenn’s Journey
From Amazon driver to business owner: Glenn’s journey with Snack in the Box
Before joining Snack in the Box, Glenn spent his days on the road as a delivery driver. Despite enjoying the work, he also wanted his own business, one that would give him the freedom to manage his schedule and create a lasting legacy for his family. He wanted independence, but with the reassurance of a proven model behind him.
When Glenn came across Snack in the Box, it just felt like the ideal fit. It gave him the freedom to run his own business, but with the backing of a trusted brand, proven systems, and a team he could always count on for support.
And today, that decision has really paid off. Glenn has grown his operation from 13 to 19 vending machines and continues to expand month after month, turning his drive and determination into a thriving business.
Why choose a franchise?
“The franchise route appealed to me because it reduces the risks of starting from scratch,” Glenn explains.
He explored a few different business ideas before finding the right fit. What really drew him to the vending industry was its flexibility. He liked the idea of being out on the road, meeting people, and building something that grew at his own pace. It offered the right balance between independence and variety.
When he came across Snack in the Box, it stood out straight away. The company had an excellent reputation, solid systems, and long-standing partnerships with well-known brands like Mars. For Glenn, it was the reassurance he needed, knowing he was putting his time and money into something that already worked.
Training & support
Right from the beginning, Glenn could see how much support was available. The training was hands-on and practical, covering everything from stock management and machine maintenance to customer care and running the business day to day. He also spent time with experienced franchisees out on the road, which gave him a real insight into how the business works day to day.
The support hasn’t stopped since. Glenn says, “There’s always someone at the end of the phone, whether it’s advice, a quick question, or just a bit of reassurance. You never feel like you’re on your own.”
Life as a franchisee
No two days are ever the same. From preparing stock and visiting vending and box customers to managing inventory, maintaining machines, and keeping on top of admin, each day offers a great mix of time on the road and time managing the business.
He’s also found the flexibility he was looking for. “Being my own boss gives me the flexibility to plan my day around family and personal commitments. It’s hard work, but the freedom to adjust my schedule means I have more time for things that matter, like spending time with my family (and even squeezing in a bit of fishing!)" adds Glenn.
Challenges & successes
Like any new business owner, Glenn faced a few challenges in the early days - mainly around time management. At first, keeping everything running smoothly while staying on top of admin wasn’t easy. But over time, he refined his routes and improved his processes, which made a big difference to how efficiently the business ran.
“Growing from 13 machines to 19 and building strong relationships with my customers - that’s something I’m really proud of,” says Glenn.
When asked what makes a successful franchisee, Glenn believes it comes down to commitment, consistency, and a willingness to learn.
Looking ahead
Glenn has ambitious plans for the future. He wants to continue growing, adding more machines and customers, and eventually running a larger operation that’s smooth and low-stress. When asked what advice he’d give to new franchisees, his message is simple:
“Do your research, talk to existing franchisees, and be ready to put the work in. Follow the system - it works.”
